One issue to keep in mind is that static charges are constantly being
created. Squirming in your seat reaching for a tool can produce a far
greater charge that unrolling tape. What is important it to keep =
draining
the charges off with either a wrist strap or by touching a grounded =
surface
repeatedly while working around ESD-sensitive devices.=20

Just about anything is ESD-sensitive to some degree. Even a tree, if the
charge is great enough (check out a tree after a direct hit by lightning =
to
see what I mean). The degree of care taken depends upon the degree of
sensitivity to damage.=20

So the best thing is to assume that everything is like those rolls of =
tape,
and take care to constantly discharge yourself by one means or another =
while
working around sensitive devices.=20

I have been using masking tape for a while and nothing seemed to go =
wrong so
far   .The tape I use is Octoral A 100, it's on a paper support, leaves =
no
mark on the PCB when you remove it --it's important --...and there's no =
blue
light in the dark when unrolled ! Never tried other type since this one
