For those who already wear glasses but still need some magnification, I 
can recommend the Magni-Spec clip on magnifiers that Action Electronics 
sells.  I got a set of the 2x power (model #914) and they're just about 
perfect for sorting capacitors and PCB assembly.  I wear progressive 
lenses and can adjust the Magni-Specs to get the magnified view in the 
upper center of my regular glasses (usually the distance area) and still 
have the lower center area clear for reading the manual.  Kind of like 
upside-down bifocals.  It's easy to switch between reading the manual 
and soldering components with just a tilt of my head.
