[Elecraft] Reciever Pre-Alignment

Changes observable when turning those inductors are somewhat subtle.
Frankly, I would go on. Later, when you get to the transmitter tuning
you will tune those inductors again. I found that the transmitter
tuning produced readily observable peaks. Of course, that also tuned
the receiver as well. I did use a monitor scope to view the output
because it is a very sensitive indicator. But a decent power meter
should also work.

Subject: [Elecraft] Reciever Pre-Alignment

K2'ers,

On page 73 of the assembly manual - I do not have a signal generator so
I
have to use noise and a received signal but no matter what I try I
"CANNOT"
hear any change when I turn L3 or L4.

I have tried this 3 times and my ears do not detect a change and I do
not
want to damage the slugs in the cans.

Since I cannot perceive a change in 80 meters with L3 and L4 and I know
that
these slugs are not real durable I have not attempted any of the others
bands listed in the sequence because I know that I will start toying
with
them because it will bother me .....

Can anyone suggest some ideas on this step that I maybe able to
correctly
set all these slugs and get this alingment done correctly?

Did I miss the boat here or is something wrong ?:

Thanks

Paul
