[Elecraft] June 1 Net Report

Hello to all. Conditions today were "interesting" on both 17 and 20! I =
could only hear a couple of very weak bursts of signals here in Atlanta =
on 17 meters. I was checked in on IRC at #elecraft during the net but =
had no other stations on the channel.
I could not hear Rich KQ9L at all on either 17 or 20. When I got to =
14.333, Larry W6LAR and Bill NI5F were keeping the frequency warm (great =
idea - thanks!!!) and nothing was heard from Rich KQ9L. I asked Larry =
to give him a call from the west coast but nothing was heard either by =
Larry or here in Atlanta. Since it was a few minutes past 20:30z we =
started the net. Stations I logged on 20 meters are listed below. =
Again, I am sure that I missed many others and there are probably some =
errors included below. It was nice to be able to log in Jacques F9OJ =
and David VE6DRW as dx checkins. Again, as was true last week, no cw =
checkins were heard by me (when I call for cw I do tune + and - 1.5 khz =
of our net frequency - just to be sure!). Stations that were logged in =
were given the opportunity to make any calls that they wanted. =
Mercifully - all declined and just participated in the "test" - yes, =
conditions were rotten!!!
Several stations rotated the NC duties and called for chickins - as I =
recall, Larry W6LAR, Dale WA8SRA and Harry AB2PN - and - surely I've =
forgotten someone (sorry) provided checkins and relays. Stations =
checked in by me were:
W6LAR Larry K2 #3147 CA
F9OJ Jacques K2 #0937 France
NI5F Bill K2 #1135 and K2 #2473 (ck'd in on both K2's) =
MS
N5IB Jim k2 #1233 LA
AB2PN Harry K2 #3458 NY
NM5U David K2 #3014 NM
W7QHD Kurt K2/100 # 1538 AZ
K5OI Tim K2 # 0063 OK
VE6DRW David K2/100 #2171 Canada
WA8SRA Dale K2 #3039 OH
I'm not sure how I got into this but am glad that I was able to help out =
during the last couple of net "tests". It's doubtful that I'll have =
much time next week and it is probably time for me to get out of the way =
anyway so Stephen and Rich can get some more "permanent" help. If you =
can volunteer to serve as a net control station perhaps you could email =
either Stephen W3SMK or Rich KQ9L and let them know. In spite of the =
frustrations of band conditions, it really is a lot of fun and I know =
they will appreciate the volunteers :) Have fun ----
