Gang:
Our long-waited Summer FOX Season begins on Sunday, 1 June 2003, at 2200Z.
The first pair of hunters are Jim N0UR and Lloyd K3ESE, both good,
experienced operators with excellent gear and antennas. Jim is in MN while
Lloyd is in MD. Let's all get on there tomorrow and give these guys 90
minutes of serious FOX hunting. BTW it makes no difference which FOX you
work first.
Complete details about the season are found at http://www.cqc.org/fox.
NOTE = All hunts this season will be on Sunday evenings, for sure! There
will be ten evenings of hunting, two FOXes per evening. The Summer season
will be on 20 Metres (fingers crossed for good propagation!).
What do you need to do to get into the action?--Just tune in with your rig
set to 5 watts or less, and go for it. You don't need huge antennas for
this. And don't worry about your code speed. Each FOX will QRS as
necessary. Remember--the FOXes want to work as many hunters as possible
during their outings.
Do your best not to call directly on the FOX's transmit frequency. This
allows the hunters to hear the FOX. This is especially important at the
beginning of each hunt, when there is typically a pileup. I will probably
be about 1.25 kHz high toward the beginning of the hunt.
So good luck Jim and Lloyd and all hunters. Now let's go and have some fun!
