[Elecraft] Questions on 2m transverter

Hi folks - 
I know ZERo about 2m SSB and cw operating.
1 - Any problem operating 2m SSB and cw from my Ringo dual bander mounted up about 25 feet?
2 - How much activity do you hear on 2m SSB and cw? Anybody operate in this freq in the Southwest?
3 - What kind of distance might I expect to communicate?
The transverter is not exactly low priced - so I am really wondering what additional operating fun I would have once it was built.... ie cost/benefit? Thanks for any input.
