[Elecraft] Power loss using K2/100

Hi,

I'm having some difficulty with my KAT100 (we'll get to that later) but
in the process of doing final tune up etc I discovered a problem with
my K2 that had not previously been noted. It appears to be a temperature
sensitive problem:

When I turn on the K2/100 after it has been off for a while, I am easily
able to get 20W for tuning on all bands. Suddenly however I will lose
power on several bands-output will drop to 1 watt on 20W tune, 0.1 watt
on 2 watt tune on some bands but not others. If I cool the unit down
(turn off, wait a while) I get power back on all bands. This occurs
whether I am driving the ATU or a good quality dummy load (MFJ
cantenna). The bands seem to be pretty random.

Up to now, everything has checked out pretty well. All toroid pads have
excellent conductivity. I was careful to not overheat semiconductors,
and I used a grounding strap.

Any suggestions on where to begin? I realize I will need to do some
sleuthing, but some idea of where to start would be great.

I don't think I can tackle the KAT100 problem till I have stable output
on the K2/100. Furthermore, if it is a controller issue, it may be
messing up the KAT100.

Thanks.
