Hi all:
And while we are making announcements . . .
I will be in the UK (mostly England & Wales)
August 5 to 27 with K2 #3290 (perhaps /100
if built in time), Buddipole & wire. CW & SSB
mainly 40 & 20, but other bands as/when open.
And in Zambia (Central Africa, 9J2) from
Aug 28 to September 18. Operations will
depend on getting the permit in time (it might
be as 9J2/N6JW or 9J2/ZS1WN depending
which way the local authority wants to go).
Operations will be limited by the following
factors: In the UK, family camping holiday
( & RAIN!); in Zambia, work. But I will have
considerable free time in Zambia (no family)
late evenings, early mornings and at varying
times during the day, so I could get quite a bit
of operating in. Zambia is not that rare, but
still REAL DX. Now if only propagation
will improve.
On CW if/while operating QRP from Zambia
I will stay around the QRP frequencies on 40
(7030 in Region 1) and 20 (14060). If I have
the KPA100 with me, I will be on lower down
in the band (perhaps just below 14025, listening
just above). CW speed 15 wpm or slower to
match caller. This is not a DXpedition, but a
casual operation to shake down a newly built
K2. This notice is to alert fellow Elecrafters of my
plans, and hopefully make a contact or two with
some of you.
PS: Also note, my son Kevin (15 yrs old), KG6HMF,
is in the UK already (Scotland right now) with his
newly built K1 (4band, ATU, batteries), MP-1 and wire.
If you hear SLOW (but good) cw, it might be him :)
Sorry, that got longer than intended.

John, N6JW
