Jason,
Carrying your equipment should not be any problem. As another suggested,
carry a copy of your license. I also carry a copy of the operating manual
but have never had to show it nor my license. I work as a pilot and have had
no problems with equipment since 9/11. I have carried my 756PRO inside my
rollaboard and carried a FT-1000MP in a clothe computer bag as carryon. No,
I do not get any special dispensation due to being a pilot. You only have to
stand around a security checkpoint to see us guys in uniforms, searched,
wanded, shoes off, etc. I suspect you may be going thru MIA to Key West and
I have never had a problem with equipment, including power supplies,
antennas, etc.
