[Elecraft] Soundcard "quality" for PSK31

As I have begun to use my K2 for PSK31, I fear that my soundcard's
output may not be "appropriate" for broadcast use. For example, playback
of a signal recorded from the PC's microphone input is very noisy when I
listen to it with headphones connected to the PC's headphone jack. I've
been VERY concerned about this when using the PC as a "voice keyer."

Should I be worried? I'm using a laptop, so the "soundcard" options seem
limited. I've seen "external soundcards" (e.g., Creative Labs Extigy)
that connect to the PC via USB, but I can't tell (without buying one) if
it will work with "stock" PSK31 software.

Thoughts?
