When I was a budding SWL I read about the fancy
Racal receivers that had Built In Test Equipment
and could self-test and diagnose failures.

My recent dead-front-panel issue with the K2
while in the field made me think of an idea for
an addition to some future K2 respin. (NO HURRY,
WAYNE AND ERIC!! hi)

How about a couple of jumpers to jump the 5V and
8V lines to dropping resistors and a pair of LEDs?
(Or use a three-position jumper and one LED.)

That would be a quick way to check, with just a=20
screwdriver and nimble fingers, how dead your
suddenly-dead K2 really is. (I know, I know,
I should get a tiny DMM and stick it in the
traveling bag...)
