[Elecraft] K2 drift...

Well, since installing the PLL temp mod I can't say I've noticed any drift
whatsoever!! But then it wasn't a problem before the PLL mod so I'm
wondering (out loud) if those with drift issues don't have some problem in
their K2's that needs tending to?

I can't say everyone should do the PLL-temp mod but u won't regret it fer
sure!

Now I realize the digital modes do need very stable transmit and receive but
I always get a laugh when I see the reflector heat up about drift....I mean
when I started in this DAMN hobby in the early 60's tubes and hot-running
rigs were king and as long as u didn't drift off the edge of the ham band u
was happy!! Operated with one hand on the keyand the other on the rcvr
tuning knob chasing the other fellow u were talking to. And don't git me
started about wide-band receive filtering...what filtering? All in my
head......HI!

Actually, every morning I chat on 75mtrs with a bunch of old friends still
using all-tube rigs like Collins, Drake and Swan and believe it or not my K2
ends up being the frequency standard while they all drift around as they
being heating up!!!

Just some thoughts on the subject....

Cheers all from k6sdw
