Harry,
You did not say whether or not you had good frequency readings at TP3 after
the failure (I could be convinced that things were OK until you attempted
CAL PLL).

Check your soldering, then check the soldering, and check again - you may
have an unsoldered connection, or possibly one that looks OK, but really is
bad - the kind that fail after working for a short while (the result of not
enough heat where it really counts).

Also, be certain you still have a good frequency indication at TP2 (BFO).
