[Elecraft] SMT hybrid PIC upgrade suggestion

Since the "ice has been broken" so to speak,
with the KDSP2 and hybrid SMT/through-hole=20
construction, here's a suggestion...

The current K1/K2 firmware PICs are "full."=20
No more room for new features and perhaps=20
no upgrades planned by the manufacturer
to allow more memory space...

Why not use a different, SMT PIC, with more
memory, mounted to a thin sub-board which has
pins to mate with the DIP socket?

This could open up all kind of possibilities
and would only involve the customer plugging
it in as with a DIP.=20

Just an idea. I know Wayne or Eric sent a
message a while back about the PIC roadmap
ahead, but this is something else to consider,
if such a sub-board would fit into the rigs.
