I, too, have been caught in the mod time warp. My K2 is #2985. Obviously,
15 kits after mine the B Board came out. Ok, these things happen. Then I
ordered the KPA100. Just a few weeks after that, the mod with spring clips
came out. I have exchanged emails with both Wayne and Eric about this
phenomena. Of course, they are correct. No small company could survive
providing upgrades to previous owners at no cost, (my goal) and my K2 worked
just fine without any of those mods. I chose to add them.
I have done all of the A/B mods on my rig and while some were easier than
others, they still bring the same satisfaction to kit building as the
original. To have the rig work after surgery is almost as much fun as
lighting it off the first time.
Back when I had a KW 570, it cost me $125 to get a software update done to
it by KW factory service. So, keep on keeping on Elecraft, and we will keep
on buying the new stuff!
DSP is next on my list.
BTW, I did a booth for Elecraft at the Utah State Convention last weekend.
Safe to say, we had the largest number of folks gathered around the table
most of the time. I think a few sales will result from the show and I got to
show the QRP lecture a neat packaged K2. They had a bunch of pictures of the
K2 in their presentation but most had not seen one in real time.
