[Elecraft] battery care

Hi

The battery in the K2 is a sealed lead acid type. This battery does not =
have a memory effect like some older NiCad batteries had. It is not good =
for these batteries to be discharged too far or over charged. I would =
not let the terminal voltage drop below 10 volts or charge higher than =
about 14 volts. These batteries like to be float charged. Setting the =
power supply to about 14.2 volts will float the battery at about 13.8 =
volts. When set up this way the charger/power supply can be left on the =
battery indefinitely.

  Hi,

I set my power supply to a voltage that displays 13.8V on the K2 just =
how the manual describes it. Is this all I can do to keep the battery =
life long? =20

How about discharging it once in a while (well, operating with the =
power supply off with QRP)? There used to be a memory effect in some =
rechargeable batteries and I am not sure whether the KBT2 is one of =
them. Or is all I have to do to care best for the battery to connect it =
all the time to my power supply? Or just when I operate the K2?
