Regarding the power fluctuation problem discussed on this reflector about
a month ago, I noticed the same problem with my K2/100 while driving my
linear on 20 meters. I replaced R98 on the RF board with a 1k resistor
(originally was 270 ohms) and that took care of the power fluctuation.
Much smoother control of power is now evident while adjusting the power
output control.

The only minor snag was that I had to remove the bottom-mounted resistor
by desoldering the holes on the bottom of the board because there wasn't
enough room between components on the top of the board to get my solder
sucker in there. After removing the old resistor and cleaning out the
holes it was a snap to install the new resistor. Still get full power
output on 10 meters.

This problem (which may not exist with all K2s) is documented on page 7
of the troubleshooting appendix E as item 160 "Power output flucuates".
Instead of the 10 to 20 Hz fluctuation, my K2's power output fluctuated
only about 1 Hz.

The only things I can think of at the moment to complete the K2 to my
liking are:

1) Reduce the aggressiveness of the KDSP2's NR by reducing the filter
lengths (taps) so that NR2 is like the present NR1, NR3 is like the
present NR2, etc., and NR1 is somewhat less aggressive than it is now.

2) Replace (or modify) the VFO knob with one that has a finger dimple.
