If I understand your question, you are asking about the initial receiver
alignment and the later transmitter alignment which will affect the
receiver.  Although the initial receiver alignment is helpful, you will
probably do a more complete job later when you get to the transmitter
alignment because I think it's easier to view the power output peaks.
That will also tweak the receiver alignment.  The net result when you
finish is that you should have maximum receiver signal level AND maximum
power output on transmit.

Here is a dumb question. Is it best to align the rec. for max signal or
max power?  With the band pass filters the book says it will be the
same. I just wonder if there is a happy medium.
