[Elecraft] Step Attenuator Kit

Hi
The problem with building a step attenuator is not so much the =
electronics but the mechanical design. Shielding the stages so there is =
minimum leakage can be quite a problem. I have found the Vectronics/MFJ =
step attenuator to work fairly well for an inexpensive unit. Not as well =
as my HP attenuator but adequate for most uses around the shop.
What I would like to see is a very simple signal generator that is =
stable and adjustable in both frequency and amplitude that could be used =
to align a K2 or K1. Maybe the VFO circuit from the K1 with slide =
switches for band changing.

It seems to me that a natural follow-on to an Elecraft RF noise =
generator kit would be an Elecraft "Precision Step Attenuator Kit." A =
step attenuator is fairly easy to build, but some of the resistor values =
are not economically obtainable in small quantities, to say nothing of =
good quality slide switches. =20
