[Elecraft] K2 & switching power-supply donŽt work?

Hello elecrafters,
 I modified a small switching power-supply to provide the correct
 voltage for charging the K2-Battery. This supply is small
 enough to fit in my pocket, perfect for travelling/holidays.

  I tried to power the K2 with that supply for receiving,
 but the K2 wonŽt come to live (internal battery-switch in
 off-position). There is no drop in voltage measured at the plug.
 
 Using the same plug connected to a different power supply (also
 switching, though), K2 comes to live.

 This may sound grazy, but thats the way it is.
 
 What is the reason for this behavior?

 Maybe there is something inside the K2 that senses the switching
 power-supply, says "no good" and refuses to work? ;-)

 Maybe a small amount of AC that makes the fuse drip?
