[Elecraft] K2/100 an Integrated Kit?

There are certain suggested steps you can do during the K2 build to make
the later installation of the KPA/100 easier. If you have both kits
available, the extra parts installation suggested in the K2 book can be
done at the suggested stages. Other than that, there are no "mods" to
be done as such.

The K2/100 replaces the top cover of a basic K2. There are no special
mods
necessary. Build the K2, get it working, then proceed to the K2/100.
Have fun!

I'm thinking about building a K2/100 and would
like to know if doing so necessarily involves
first building a complete K2, and then "modding"
it to include the 100 watt power amplifier. Or
can the assembly process be integrated to cut out
construction steps that would have to be later
undone in performing the PA mod?
Thanks,

P.S. While I enjoy CW, I probably spend less time
using that mode of communication than using SSB.
I know the K2 is SSB capable, but, for someone
like me planning to use the rig, say, 80 percent
of the time for SSB, is the K2 a good choice to
build a station around? I really enjoy kit
building (the K2 would replace my 30+ year old
HW101), but don't want to compromise on operating
enjoyment down the road when the building's over.
Thanks, again.
