Tom, N0SS, has several designs for downloading at:
http://home.earthlink.net/~n0ss/download.html
A noise generator is NOT required to do the filter alignments on a K2. =
All
you need is enough wide-band noise coming into the K2, and I've yet to =
see a
QTH that didn't have PLENTY of that, especially on 80 or 160 meters.=20
It is sometimes more convenient to use a noise generator than hooking =
your
K2 to a piece of wire to pick up the ambient "noise". Also, if you are
trying to do the alignment when conditions are very good, you won't have =
to
tune around to find a spot a where there are no signals in the bandpass =
if
you use a noise generator. For that reason I tossed one together. They =
are
extremely simple and non-critical to build. I think Tom still has a =
picture
of mine on his web site as well.=20

Can anyone provide me with a schematic and instructions for building a =
noise
generator? I am looking at doing the 2.5 KHz SSB mod for my K2 s/n =
3455,
and I read where the author calls for the use of a noise generator to =
make
the alignment adjustments.
