Ha -- I got bit by that one too!  The Elecraft instructions are almost 
always a model of clarity, but in this particular case, I think they could 
have been a bit clearer.  

Having specifically told you to look for pad B, the instructions should 
then say, "OK, so you found pad B.  Well, guess what?  That *AINT* where 
you measure the voltage, ok?"  <grin>

I should have read the instructions a bit more carefully, but ....
