Tom,

I'm a bit behind in reading my Elecraft reflector digests, but I see you
asked if anyone saw the Palstar AT1500BAL at Dayton. I saw one, and =
bought it=20
because it looked so good. My antenna is a loop around the house
with some very difficult loading characteristics on 160 and 40.
I checked the Palstar against my best of a variety of other tuners
on hand and it puts out more current into the feedline on average of
40-50% on all bands 160-10 meters! I think this translates into 3 dB of =
less power lost in the=20
tuner. It is well built and the settings are reproducible. Well worth
the money. They build the capacitors and inductors by hand and
there's no way you could build this with Cardwell stuff for anywhere
near the price Palstar wants. Amongst the tuners it beats on 40 meters
is a Johnson Matchbox.

I'm one of those people who thinks it's worthwhile to have a $700
antenna tuner connected to a $250 QRP rig to minimize tuner losses!
