First of all, welcome.
From my experience, this reflector, although it concentrates on
activities concerning the construction and modification of the
Elecraft K1 and K2 radios, you will find that it is "infested" with
all manner of really good information regarding numerous facets
of the amateur radio hobby. Lately, the Reflector has contained
a number of posts concerning the recent "B" upgrades to the K2.
If yours has a serial number > 3000, yours is already upgraded.
That was a mouthful. Now, to your point.
As long as you have proper tools (temperature-controlled soldering
iron, et al) and can follow the directions (without getting too excited
and working too quickly), you will assemble a fully functioning radio.
There are many others who will want to inject their (very valid)
viewpoints as well.
I myself had not built anything significant in 20 years, and I put
together a K1 and a K2 without a hitch. If you have never built
anything, I'd practice my soldering before taking on the K2, just
to get comfortable handling an iron and solder.
Other than that, just BE PATIENT, take your time, be patient,
check your work, and be patient.
You're going to love the radio when it's finished. Did I say you
should try to be patient?

Bob WA4FOM
