Just another thought.

Noise sources hard mounted to circuit boards sometimes have a drum head in
the circuit board, depending on its component density.

A standard relay noise suppression idea used by some manufacturers, (and all
those making vibrators for tube type auto radios years ago); was to enclose
the mechanically noisy component in rubber sponge material, to decouple it
from hard surfaces.  The leads were flexible.  Kept the user from hearing
the full buzz of the vibrator for example.  Best to attenuate as close to
the source as you can, or absorb upon the resonating structure in the case
of dampening the side panels and covers.
