[Elecraft] Narrow crystals

Don't get confused here... The extra crystal is removed from the PLL
Reference Oscillator, NOT the bfo. A new rfc (toroid) in installed in
the BFO, but both crystals remain! 

Dave's comments are right on. The mod does provide for less drift and
the reduced range should be great enough to let you set up the BFO for
all the frequencies needed. The mod includes a check to ensure  that you
have adequate range after it is installed.

Quite the contrary, it works much better because the BFO is much more 
temperature stable. With mod kit the BFO range is more than the minimum 
required.
