[Elecraft] K2 Tuning Knob

Like so many others I do not like the present K2 Elecraft knob. I like the
feel, size and the rubber band around the FT100 knob, but I don't really like
the tapered off look at the rear. The dimple on the FT100 looks nice, but
esthetics is about all it amounts to. The smaller the knob is, the harder it
is to make the finger go around in a circle. For this reason I would like to
see a black matte plastic knob (with a small brass core insert with hex
screw) with a dimpled circumference like Collins had on their S line.
Personally I do not like the heavy feel. Years ago the heavy knobs had a
flywheel effect. Todays knobs don't have the flywheel effect and take a lot
of effort and cannot be reverse rotated very quickly. The FT100 lightness
causes it to be very responsive. Above all, it is smooth with a feather
touch.
I am contemplating building another K2. I have ordered another FT100 knob
and a Kenwood TS850S carrying handle in anticipation of building the new K2.
I would very much like to see Elecraft introduce a new knob. I for one would
be willing to pay extra for a good quality knob. Roy Morris W4WFB
