Q - Has anyone had any experience installing a second sound card in =
his/her
PC

Response -

I tried it for a while and got it to work. My PC has an integral sound =
card
(chip on motherboard) and added a sound blaster from a previous PC. My
search of the web indicated that with some PC's it won't work (their
expressed opinion) and that if you use two of the same cards, then since
there is the same driver, the program doesn't know where to send the =
sound
(again the opinion on the web page I found I did not personally confirm
this). MixW allows selection of the soundcard, not sure of other =
programs
(digipan, etc). The one thing to watch out for is that when you add a
second SC, windows auto-magically makes the new one the default SC and =
then
you need to get into the SC configuration and undo all of the changes. =20

The reason I gave up was that I had to also select and/or mute various
sounds (wave, mike, AUX, CD, etc.) on each card and then the system =
speakers
would not produce those not selected (muted). If you don't need/want =
the
system speakers then it would probably work for your purposes. If the =
PC is
used just for Ham radio and not surfing, playing CD's etc. it should =
work.
I would think that with MIXW, you could add a SC for each XCVR and leave =
the
existing for the system speakers. It's worth a try.
