[Elecraft] Broccoli bands and Tuning Knobs

I know Mr Buller did not mean to insult those of us who love our broccoli
bands. He was offering a personal opinion.

But I must beg to differ.

My broccoli band adds a rakish (and very professional) splash of color to
my K2. Mine is a beautiful shade of cornflower blue. On these cold winter
days, it hints at a spring just round the bend. It protects my dainty
fingertips. And if I ever need my broccoli tied back together again, I
suppose it would be happy to return to the kitchen.

I'll spend all the knob money I've saved on a hat with my call on it, or
some other professional, classy apparel.

;-)

Subject: [Elecraft] The K2 Tuning Knob Discussion and Idea

Elecrafters.....
The discussion about the K2 tuning knob continues to come up on the
reflector a regular intervals. This has been going on for over a year. I
have a suggestion....
Would there be a market out there for the Elecraft Wizards (Wayne and Eric)
to find a supplier of a "alternative" tuning knob and offer it much like
they offer two different types of tilt stands. I have looked high and low
on the internet to find an alternate knob. (I like the original, but I
would like to have a finger hole as well.) I cannot find a think that would
look good on the K2. I am not keen on the Yaesu knob...and I am not sure I
want a "rubber band" from brocolli or a lobster on the knob. Looks to me
that it is not a professional piece of equipment with the rubber band.
So, why not offer an knob alternative. Just a thought for the smart guys in
Aptos. They seem to find the knob they now have...I wonder if their
supplier could make a different one. Mark it up 1000 percent and see if
guys like me would buy one. I think I would...even if it would cost a
little more.
Just a thought.....best regards to all
Lee Buller - K0WA
