[Elecraft] The K2 Tuning Knob Discussion and Idea

Well said Lee,

I think the 'Toroid Guy' filled a very similar need for those who, for one
reason or another, did not want to roll there own. This knob thing has been
resurfacing time and again. A while back there was also quite a bit of
discussion about the appearance of the screws on the K2, that seemed to have
gone away by itself, though. I was never offended by the appearance of the
screws, but there was quite a bit of discussion, as I recall.

Anyway, thanks to Lee for suggesting a solution for those of us who don't
like broccoli.

reflector a regular intervals. This has been going on for over a year. I
have a suggestion....

>Would there be a market out there for the Elecraft Wizards (Wayne and Eric)
to find a supplier of a "alternative" tuning knob and offer it much like
they offer two different types of tilt stands. I have looked high and low
on the internet to find an alternate knob. (I like the original, but I
would like to have a finger hole as well.) I cannot find a think that would
look good on the K2. I am not keen on the Yaesu knob...and I am not sure I
want a "rubber band" from brocolli or a lobster on the knob. Looks to me
that it is not a professional piece of equipment with the rubber band.

>So, why not offer an knob alternative. Just a thought for the smart guys
in Aptos. They seem to find the knob they now have...I wonder if their
supplier could make a different one. Mark it up 1000 percent and see if
guys like me would buy one. I think I would...even if it would cost a
little more.
