[Elecraft] Slightly OT: Better living through sane component storage

For hardware items (nuts and bolts) get some used glass jars with metal
lids, drill a hole in the centre of the metal lids and screw them to the
underside of some shelves above your workbench. Put your hardware items
into the glass jars and screw the jars into the lids. Now you can see
where those pesky fasteners are and how many you have left.

Bob,
For my use, I find the cabinets with small drawers to be the most useful
(about 2 inches wide, 1 1/4 inch high and about 4 inches long). These
hold my small parts and I put a label on the front. Anything larger
goes on a shelf where I can see it.
I do have the advantage of a woodworking shop and I can custom make
dividers for my shelves so stuff doesn't get pushed into one great pile,
but I hate boxes because you can't see what is in them - if it is
visible it is more likely to be used.
Now - I am finishing a new QTH, so I have to build new shelves and
organize all my stuff after being in boxes for the last year or so, so I
too am starting with a 'clean' slate and LOTS of radio stuff!!!\
