The losses may be low, but impedance follows Ohms Law for AC, as does the DC
wire losses. Just do the math. Impedance is not independent of the wire
size. Go to the section in Kraus on parallel transmission lines and surely
you will find the equation for impedance which includes not only the spacing
of the conductors but the diameter of them as well.
The lower losses of higher impedance lines such as 450 ohm impedance
parallel line are well documented in the literature; the lower the impedance
of any line the more power is dissipated in the line rather than propagating
out the antenna.
