The parts placement drawing on page 5 of the KSB2 manual is in error
because it does not show diode D5.  This error should be added to the
errata sheet.

Yes, you should install D5.

D5, a 1N4148 diode, is located between capacitors C34 (electrolytic) and
C19 (small blue) about 1-1/2" from the left edge of the board and about
1" from the front of the board.
