Maybe Elecraft might want to consider making an 'X' series of products which
are assembled versions of their kits.  The X1 could be a REALLY small
version of the K1-4/KAT1, using SMT, maybe ending up not much bigger than a
couple of decks of playing cards.  Now THAT would be cool.

I think it would be neat to see an SMT version of the K2 (X2).  Would it fit
in a K1-sized enclosure?  How about an enclosure hogged out from a solid
block of aluminum?  How small could they make it?  As small as an FT-817?
Smaller?  Would ergonomics be the limiting factor?  Would performance
increase?

I'd certainly consider buying either or both... and I bet that thousands of
hams who have grown to appreciate the K2 but do not want to build one would
buy an X2 also.
