Hi

I posted some stuff on this about a year ago. You can put a Powersonic
#ps-1228 gel cell battery into an EC1 box with room to spare. This is a 2.6
amp hour battery at 12 volts so you could run a K1 at 5 watts for a very
long time between charges. There is even enough room to include my solar
charge controller kit in the EC1 with the battery. This setup could charge
the battery with a 5 or 10 watt solar panel in the day and operate if you
wanted to and use the battery at full power at night. You could also charge
the battery from a 15 volt laptop or wall wart power supply through the
solar charge controller if you include a limiting resistor in series with
the power supply.

Subject: [Elecraft] Ideas for the EC1 enclosure?

> Hi folks -
> This time around, so far hi hi, I have decided not to install the internal
battery on the K1. I've been thinking about putting a larger battery in an
EC1 - set up for easy recharging etc. I'm curious as to any creative ideas
people have come up with to use the EC1 - love to hear your thoughts on
this. 73/Tim NZ7C
