A few assorted comments on recent mails:
1. QRP v QRO - I don't want to get into arguments on this, but in the
9 months since I got my K2 I have worked 165 countries using nothing
more than longwire and vertical antennas, using 5W CW. This must say
a lot about the virtues of QRP and the K2!
2. The internationally agreed standard for QRP is for less than 5W
CW/data and less than 10W SSB. I chase awards for two way QRP
contacts. To be valid for these awards all QSOs must be below 5W on
CW. It does not help me or the rest of the QRP community if stations
send 'QRP' when they are running more than this. Run whatever power
you feel you want to, but please do not call it QRP if it is not.
3. I likewise find a lot of postings on the reflector off topic. I
receive it in digest mode, which is the only sensible method for me.
I am continuing to subscribe at the moment to keep track of
announcements, but I know quite a few who have unsubscribed because
they cannot keep up with all the mails. Some discipline in what is
posted would certainly help in this respect.
