Hi Jean-Baptiste,

Unfortunately the $212 local sales tax (VAT) you had to pay would also be 
charged if you purchased the product from a local source in France. The tax 
man will get his money no matter what... :^0

When we sell to a distributor, like QRP Project in Germany, they still must 
pay the VAT when they import the products, which is then included in the final 
price to the customer. So regardless of how the product is sold the tax is due.

The K2 and accessories -are- exempt from customs charges in the European 
Community and we provide the proper customs declarations with our shipments. 
You should be able to get a refund for the $30 customs tax that was levied in 
error.
