Absolutely, the K2 will sound much better on SSB with the SSB option
installed. The OP1 filter on the SSB board has a much flatter passband
response than the variable bandwidth filter in the base K2.
The varaible bandwidth filter is optimized for CW, and works best at
bandwidths of 1000 Hz or less. Actually I find receiving SSB with the
variable filter to be helpful in adverse band conditions where I have the
filter set to either 1800 or 1600 Hz. My filter gets quite ragged at wider
bandwidths. Your mileage may vary.
