Thanks, David.  My plugs do not appear to have any solder lugs so I
guess it is either friction or nothing.  I do appreciate the
information.

  The banana plugs have a "hole" in the rear to accommodate the wire (be

sure to put the plastic sleeve over the wire -- in the proper direction

first).  There are some that allow for friction connection, but I prefer

always to solder the wire into place.  The jacks have a solder lug.
