That is a good point.  The article in question was speaking about
transverter use with one of the Yaesu qrp rigs which does have FM
capability.

True, although the use of a transverter with a K2 on 222 MHz (or 50 MHz,
or
144 MHz, or...) only needs to cover the weak-signal/non-FM portion of
the
band(s) since the K2 doesn't provide an FM transmit or receive function.
