[Elecraft] K2 Construction - 2 Questions

I got a similar result with the agc voltage test. I briefly spoke to
Elecraft which did not seem to deem it a problem. I did see a .16 amp
change from "day" to "nite" with the bar graph dot test so I think there
may be a problem with that. Your power cord should be OK, particularly
at the current levels being drawn.

Subject: [Elecraft] K2 Construction - 2 Questions
I am still in the Part 1 assembly of the K2 RF board and have a couple
questions.
1. Setting the AGC Threshold. Pg 46 says to adjust R1 for a reading of
3.90
volts on the DMM. Turning R1 fully counter clockwise will only give me
3.80
volts -- I assume this is not a problem. Tell me if it is.
2. On the Bargraph Current Test. Pg 46 says that after you set the
GRPH
mode to BAR the current should be 0.16 to 0.18 amps higher than on DOT.
My
readings show that on DOT I get 13.8 volts at 0.06 amps. After I change
the
GRPH mode to BAR, all 10 segments are lit, but a little dimmer that when
only
one or a couple are lit, and the readings I then get are 13.8 volts and
0.08
amps -- in increase in amps of only 0.02 instead of the suggested 0.16
to
0.18 amps. I am using lamp-cord size power cord from a 20 amp
regulated
power supply. Should I be concerned, and if so, where should I look to
make
a correction. All other checks are coming out OK so far.
Thanks for the help.
