My interest in a new radio or improved K2 would be in the areas of DDS 
(over DSP), built-in solar panel charge controller (as an option), and an 
improved KSB2 (with variable gain mic amp, and adjustable VOX sensitivity).

I think the improved KSB2 could be done easily enough. Add a fixed gain amp 
to the board and feed it in to a digital pot chip. The second KSB2 change 
might be doable by having a way to change the level of ALC THR under user 
control. Either that, or it would need a way to change the voltage being 
fed to pin 2 of U4.
