Thanks electers all for the words of encouragement and kind offers of
help.

I've decided that I will build a K2, (or maybe a K5??? as my second
rig), however it is with some regret that I conclude that as this first
K2 will be my main rig and although I'm sure I can get it working, I'm
not convinced that I can get into the upper levels of the performance
area I'd like.  So, I shall go and play some more and see if I can't
improve my 0-1-2 kit record before I try to become the first person NOT
to get a K2 operational!  :-) 

I've also noticed from some of the posts on the reflector that there are
far more experienced soldering irons than mine out there that are
looking for something to do...   Well, if your soldering iron is
currently looking for a satisfying K2 build, I'd love to hear from you,
drop me a line off list.  That also applies if you are selling your K2!

One comment sent to me with a high chuckle factor I will share with the
list was 

"If you are a mechanical engineer you MAY have problems, if you are an
electrical engineer you will have problems!!"
