Hi Daniel,

A transverter has no modes of its own; it converts from one band to 
another using the same mode as the transceiver. Since the K2 won't do 
FM, neither will the transverter. If you're interested in dual band FM, 
you'd be better off with a dual band rig designed for that purpose.

On the other hand, if you'd like to try 2m VHF work on the low end of 
the band, the TenTec 2m transverter is a very inexpensive way to get a 
good signal on the air. You'll need an amp, though, since the TenTec is 
low power. I have used this transverter on my K2, along with a 150 watt 
brick amp. It worked FB.
