[Elecraft] My Experiences with EH antennas on 20 meters

Hi Gang,

While I'm skeptical of small footprint antennas (< 1/2 wavelength), I
would like to see more data on the EH antennas in practical application.
My first feeling after reviewing them is that there are probably large
losses in the matching network, but if this is built correctly, this may
not be the case. This looks like a good experiment and I'm interested
enough to try one myself. Now, the question would be how to test
effective use. How and what would we compare it to, and what would the
test be? My suggestion is to build one of the antennas for 15 or 20
meters and compare it with a resonant dipole with a station a few
hundred miles away that you can have a normal QSO with and see what the
differences are. A test like this or something similar and probably more
defined would give you some "real world" application data. If any of you
are interested, I'd be willing to try this. Looks like a weekend project
to put the antennas together, and then a few weeks of testing during
different band condx. Just an idea...
