William and all those reading....
Yes, the demise of NTS has affected CW over the last few years. Although I am not involved in NTS anymore, I remember those days fondly where speed and perfect copy was paramount. When I was cutting my CW eye-teeth in the late 60's at the age of 16....I spent a lot of time making CW nets. Why? I couldn't get a date I guess. I remember hitting Kansas's QKS CW net at 7 pm...going to Tenth Region ...and then hitting Central Area Net...then going back to the second session of Tenth Region and then hitting the late session of QKS. All done with 60 watts on 80 meters using a DX-40/VF1 and a NC57 receiver. I was a poor high school guy. Later on that translated to CW contesting which I love...through the old QSO parties. What a hoot that was. I love NAQP...especially with the K2 After I found my girl (who became my wife) I did not participate in NTS. I sometimes check in but they have to ask who I am and where I am located. Feels like putting on an old coat that is very familiar and comfortable. I was stuck on CW for 4 years before I got a SSB rig. Assembled a new HW100 and what was the first thing I did with it? Checked into a CW net. Hardly used the thing on SSB. HHHARRRRR. I don't have the DX-40 any more, but as I've said here before, I still have the wife...she has full output still and receives well on all bands.

but it is important to keep CW visible, and it is especially appropriate for
a group that builds great cw rigs - the K1 and the K2!
