I still have my old Post slide rules from my college days - a 6" and a 12".
I do use still use them when I have occasion to do equivalent ratio
calculations - you can see the whole range of applicable ratios on the slide
when doing the same thing using a calculator becomes a chore of doing a
series of 'guessimate' calculations.
One ham example that comes to mind is determining how much to trim off an
antenna - do a trial trim and see how much the resonant frequency changes,
then dial that into the slide rule and see how much I really have to trim to
get to the frequency that I want to hit (this is an inverse ratio example,
and my slide rule does have inverse scales).
