Still got the little circular job from EE-school days. 

When I started there (Moore School of EE, U of Pa, fall of 1972), "handheld" 
calculators were unknown. Somewhere in the middle, a few of us with lotsa 
dough got HP-35 calculators (not me!). By graduation in 1976, slide rules 
were starting to disappear.

It was more than a bit surreal to see those early handheld calculators while 
going to class in the building where the first all-electronic high speed 
digital computer was designed and built. Less than 30 years to go from a 
multi-ton monster to something that would fit in a pocket. 

But the slide rule's batteries never failed in mid-test.
