Hi all,
This coming weekend is our New Zealand HF Field day (The Jock
White Memorial Field Day) and I will be operating my K2 on the 80m band ,
and hopefully another K2 owned by ZL1ANY will be "on stream" as well and on
40m. (He is finishing off the KPA100 at present)
Unfortunately contacts outside the Pacific basin don't count in the
scoring...I say unfortunate, as we quite often work State Side on 40m on the
Saturday night.
Field day here is pretty relaxed......we start at 0200z on Saturday the
22nd, and knock off at 1100z that night,( 3pm to midnight NZDST) then start
again at 1700z on Sunday 23rd, and knock off at 0200z (6am to 3pm
NZDST)....giving 18 hours total time on air. We only use 40 and 80m and work
CW and SSB each alternate 1/2 hour. The BBQ is stoked up for dinner on the
Saturday night and again for breakfast on Sunday. It is not uncommon to have
a dram or two before bed Saturday! All very relaxing.
New operators in the Club are encouraged to have a go at either mode. It is
engineered to be a FUN weekend without too much stress!
Antennas this year at our site will be full wave loops on both bands and a
1/2 wave vertical on 80m for an experiment.( earth being a copper hot water
cylinder buried in the mud of a tidal estuary and two radials in the
tide.....)
If you hear us at all give us a shout......whether your call counts in our
score or not is immaterial....love to hear from you!
Cheers.....Ron ZL1TW
K2/100 #2204

p.s ....if you *Do* hear us the exchange from us is sig report, contact
number/ branch number. Outside NZ we take sig report and contact number
.
